// For engineering firms
AI for engineering firms, tested on old billing cycles first.
For civil, structural, MEP and survey firms. Start with one job: project invoices drafted from timesheets, expenses and each contract's billing terms. We test it on copies of 20 to 30 invoices you already sent, with no login to Deltek or any other system, before you decide anything.

Project invoices from timesheets
Each project's hours, expenses and subconsultant costs turned into an invoice that follows its billing type and the client's own format.
See the job pageProposals and qualifications
First drafts of responses to RFPs and RFQs, built from the resumes, project descriptions and submissions your marketing team already has.
See the job pageSubconsultant invoices
Invoices from your subconsultants checked against their agreement and the phase they belong to, before they pass through to the client.
See the subconsultant pageAn acquired firm's open projects
Projects from a firm you bought, mapped onto your own phases, labor categories and invoice formats so they bill like the rest.

Every past billing cycle has an answer key
Every active project gets an invoice every billing period, and at most firms a project manager reviews the draft before it goes out. Copies of a past cycle hold everything a fair test needs: the hours as charged, the expense reports, the subconsultant invoices, and the invoice the client actually received. Your reviewer, the colleague who knows this billing inside out, checks every draft against that invoice.
Proposals depend on what gets advertised and when. Billing comes due every period whether the month was busy or not. That makes it the job where a test on old documents looks most like the real work.
The math is rarely the hard part. One firm can bill hourly against a rate schedule on one contract, a fixed fee by phase on the next, and a percent of construction cost on a third. Deltek Ajera, for example, offers five billable billing types: Time & Expense, Fixed Fee, Percent Complete, Unit Price and Percent of Construction Cost. Each needs its own inputs and often its own invoice format, and public clients add progress reports and backup rules on top.
Ownership shapes the sign-off. Many engineering firms are employee-owned, so the person who approves a test like this is often a principal or the CFO rather than a founding family. And when a firm buys another, the acquired firm usually arrives with its own billing setup.

// How a proof of concept runs
One billing job, start to finish
- Step 01
The proof of concept
Once the NDA is signed, you send copies of 20 to 30 invoices from past billing cycles, with the timesheet and expense detail behind them. Nothing connects to Deltek or your file server. If old invoices have to stay in the office, we build look-alikes with your billing lead.
- Step 02
Your reviewer decides
Up front, the owner names the reviewer, signs off on the success criteria and sees a price range for running it live. The reviewer then marks every draft against the invoice that went out.
- Step 03
Live, after a yes
About 30 days on your next billing cycles. A person approves every draft invoice before the client sees it.
Billing gets its own price, as every later job will: a range before the test, then a fixed figure before you sign.
Rob gives the range on the call, once he knows how many projects you bill each period and how many billing types and client formats you run.
