JobBOSS² quotes, drafted from the print and checked against the ones your estimator sent.

For CNC job shops and make-to-order plants that quote in JobBOSS², or still in the older JobBOSS or E2 SHOP. AI drafts each quote estimate by estimate and quantity by quantity from copies of 20 to 30 RFQs already answered, and your reviewer, the estimator who knows your JobBOSS² setup best, holds every draft against the quote that went out. An RFQ lands. A quote takes shape the way JobBOSS² keeps one.

Your estimator reads the print and the buyer's quantities, then looks for an estimate that already exists for the part. From there the quote either starts from that estimate, from a copy of an older quote, or from a part nobody has built before. Each quantity gets its own costs, and the finished quote goes out, often emailed straight from JobBOSS².

For the test, AI works through copies of those RFQs and writes each one up the way a JobBOSS² quote is held: the estimate it starts from, then routing, material and subcontract lines for every quantity, with the source of each number shown. It keys nothing into JobBOSS². Your reviewer reads each draft beside the quote your shop actually sent.

// Inside JobBOSS²

Where a JobBOSS² quote picks up its numbers

The estimate comes before the quote. JobBOSS² builds an estimate from material, labor and outside-service costs and keeps it for repeat work, and ECI's own page says a quote is made from an estimate with one click. Orders can start from an estimate, a new part or free form. So the first question on any RFQ is whether an estimate already exists for this part, and whether it still matches how the floor runs the part today. The draft names the estimate it started from, or says none fit and lays out the routing your estimator would enter as a new one.

Each quantity can run its own way. ECI's quoting page says a JobBOSS² quote can hold several quantities with alternate routing, material price breaks and subcontract costs. On a machined part that is the whole question: ten pieces might be cut from bar on a simple setup while five hundred earn a fixture or a different machine, and the bar costs less per foot at the bigger buy. The draft gives each quantity its own routing, material break and subcontract line, and says plainly where it reused one routing for every quantity, so your estimator sees which breaks were really worked out.

Copied quotes carry old costs. ECI also lists copying and modifying a previous quote as a way to start one, and on repeat work it is the quickest. The copy brings along whatever material and subcontract costs were on the original the day it was written. JobBOSS² shows material purchase history and part history from inside quoting, and its purchasing side keeps material history that tracks how costs moved over time. So when a draft starts from a copy, it lists every cost it carried over, the quote that cost came from, and the latest purchase price in your PO history beside it.

Markup or profit, and send-outs without a price. ECI says JobBOSS² can build estimates on either markup or profit percentages, and the same figure gives a different price under each. The draft follows whichever method your shop uses and shows the cost, the setting and the resulting price at every quantity. Outside services are the other open number. JobBOSS² purchasing can send an RFQ to several vendors to find the best price, so each subcontract line in the draft either cites a current vendor price from your sample or is marked for a vendor RFQ and left unpriced.

What your reviewer checks. The owner names the reviewer, usually whoever builds estimates in JobBOSS² day to day. They go quantity by quantity: the estimate picked, the routing at each break, the costs a copy carried, and the markup or profit method. JobBOSS² reports win rates, so the sample can come straight from your won and lost quotes. A lost quote tests a draft just as well, because the answer key is the quote your estimator sent, not the buyer's choice.

Printouts and exports, never a JobBOSS² user

Commercial work only
01

20 to 30 RFQs and the quotes JobBOSS² sent

Each print and request as it arrived, with the quote your estimator sent, printed or exported with every quantity on it. A quote that began as a copy of an older one makes the sample stronger.

02

The estimates behind them

For each part, the estimate the quote used, with its routing, materials and outside services. A JobBOSS² report or a printout will do.

03

Material and vendor prices

Recent purchase history for the bar, plate and other stock in the sample, plus the latest prices from your platers, heat treaters and other vendors.

04

An NDA, then copies

Signed before the first print moves. No login to JobBOSS², ECI's cloud or your email at any point. If a customer's terms keep prints in-house, we build look-alike RFQs with your reviewer.

// Before it starts

Settled with the owner before any print is copied

The owner signs off on each of these before your estimator pulls a single RFQ.

About 30 days on live RFQs, still without a JobBOSS² login

Meet the success criteria, and each new RFQ gets a draft for roughly 30 days.

Your estimator checks, reprices or throws out every draft and builds the real quote in JobBOSS², which sends it the way it does today. How approved drafts reach JobBOSS², retyped or loaded with tools your company already licenses, is up to whoever runs your system. Your reviewer keeps scoring the live drafts on the same sheet.

// One hard limit

We never log in to JobBOSS², and we are not an ECI partner.

Everything runs on printouts and exports you send. We never sign in to JobBOSS², its cloud or any ECI tool, and we claim no integration, partnership, certification or reseller status with ECI Software Solutions. JobBOSS² is named here only because it is the system you run, and the name is ECI's. Only commercial RFQs come in: no defense or aerospace drawing, spec or order ever enters the test.

One job, one price: a range before the proof of concept, a fixed price before you sign.

What moves the range: RFQs per month, and how many quantities and alternate routings a typical JobBOSS² quote holds.

// Questions

Questions from JobBOSS² shops

Is this a JobBOSS² integration or an ECI add-on?
No. We have no integration, partnership or reseller agreement with ECI, and nothing we use connects to JobBOSS². The proof of concept runs on printouts and exports you send, and we never log in.
We still run the older JobBOSS, or E2 SHOP. Does this apply?
Yes. ECI launched JobBOSS² in 2021 as its cloud ERP for job shops, combining JobBOSS and E2 SHOP. Screen and field names may differ among the three, but the test needs only copies of past RFQs, the quotes sent and the estimates behind them, whichever one you run.
Doesn't JobBOSS² have its own AI?
ECI describes an AI BOM Builder for JobBOSS² that reads bill-of-materials data from PDFs, spreadsheets and images into estimating. We have no connection to it. This test is narrower: drafts of quotes you already sent, scored by your reviewer before you buy anything.
What do you need out of JobBOSS²?
Copies, not access: the quotes in the sample with every quantity, the estimates they used, recent material purchase history and your vendors' latest prices. Printed reports or spreadsheet exports work.
Will a draft set our lead times?
No. ECI says JobBOSS² can show shop capacity while a quote is built, and the delivery date on each quote stays with whoever schedules your shop. The draft leaves that line for them.
Could approved drafts go into JobBOSS² without retyping?
That is settled only after a yes, by whoever runs JobBOSS² for you. During the test nothing is loaded anywhere: drafts stay on a review sheet beside the quotes you sent.
